ONE side of Liverpool

this is a regular source of curiosity to us. 3 minutes from Birgit's house is a little local street with bars, pubs, cafes and a scattering of food and cute shops. On a weekend evening you can sometimes see the most amazing 'bird of paradise' display emerging out of taxis and cars, stepping in the highest heels you ever saw into the next bar/pub. Stepping is then later in the evening regularly replaced with staggering. We enjoy the scenes and are intrigued at the combination of littered streets, boring conservative dress-code for the males and these highly polished women.
A film well worth taking a look at to see a little of Liverpool where Jason is spending some months.

visiting the Hale village and the lighthouse

Just a very short drive (perhaps 25 minutes) from Birgit's house in Liverpool is Hale Village. A quaint small suburb which is part of Liverpool but feels quite like countryside. We forgot to take photos of the village itself but took many at the river by the lighthouse.

moments after stepping out of the car and we stood among fields.

Jason found apples floating in the river and opened one up to smell it.

small succulent type plants growing on the river beach, we
found out shortly after that you can eat these like vegetables.
We'll come and try sometime.
climbing, of course.
