A Chiang Mai Morning

Such a happy morning - well, that's most mornings...

As most days we linger around the apartment for a while, some yoga, some web-searches, some relaxed thinking about the day... Followed by a trip to the market : purchasing 2 coconuts and today's coconut waters were delicious! The lady selling them gave us a free drink of a herbal tea that was also super nice. And she refused additional money for it. How nice. She usually looks pretty stern, but evidently she likes us. We like her, too!

We sometimes go to another stall for fresh fruit and/or carrot juice, but today we were happy with just coconut. We went and got our breakfast: brown rice and a vegetable dish from the only stall in the market that sells exclusively vegetarian lunch/dinner options. (Today's choice: green beans, slightly crunchy veggie cubes and a spicy red tasty sauce.. oh yes, yum!)

Then it's onward to the sweet stall where we got mini-tiny-tasty- banana muffins and some tiny sesame covered biscuit type balls that go great with coffee.. And that's what we do next: coffee. Jason discovered a really nice coffee stand in the market that is in a quiet section of it and has 2 (lucky) stools. So he often went without Birgit with his book to relax while she takes her time finding exciting information on the internet... (ok, while she takes ages getting ready and nobody knows what is taking so long..)

Recently we started to go to the coffee stall together, Birgit gets ready faster and Jason waits a tiny bit longer.. ;)

We have cappuccino and espresso, today we dunked the tiny-mini-muffins and sesame biscuits and tried to share the treats with various locals, who are so incredibly polite and it's a real achievement to get them to accept an offer. So it is never quite clear whether we have forced them against their will or if they actually are happy to have a snack... hmmmm... must learn Thai.

Then we took another stroll around the market, buying some fruit and photographing snacks.. Which yielded us another free present : a really nice snack made from egg yolk and SUGAR. I assume it's 80% sugar and the rest egg yolk. It is really nice, even Birgit who is very suspicious of all things egg quite likes it. It's rich and filling. See the yellow shredded stuff on the photo that we'll upload in a minute.

This covers about the first 2 hours of the day and we REALLY deserved a slow morning after all the work we put in, in the last days getting Jason's proposal ready and out to the place in Denmark! Take a look at it on scribd if you would like ( LINK  ) Apparently it's a very popular document... 188 people have already clicked on it.. We wonder why? Jason must be super famous!!

Now we are eating our brown rice + veggie breakfast and will move on to the Wat Po school to practice Thai Massage straight after.

Jason is typing all himself:

OK. SO. Birgit thought it would be nice IF I type something for a change. Actually, I'm just dandie not typing, its nice to have somebody else write about your life. hehe
All is well and humid in Thailand. Were happy to be back. The people are just as beautiful as they were when we left and of course Birgit and I are just a couple of knockouts!
We are slowly settling into Chiang Mai life again and should be practicing Thai massage very soon. I'm also starting to develop some Wat (Thai temple) inspired ideas for glass making.
Now me tummy is growling so were off for breakfast!
bye bye, J

Mysore - India

hello everybody, sorry it was so long..
We just didn't have wifi or time but we are back in the world of modern technology.
It will take us some time to catch up, please come back and check this post for more images from our time in Mysore.
We are hoping to add a few every other day.

(these men are part of a large group of pilgrims from Rajasthan, which lies in the north west of India, they had travelled all the way to Mysore in the South, they spoke no English so we don't know what they were doing and how long their pilgrimage would last - click on the image to see it larger)
